1. Right-click Start button
2. Click the Taskbar tab. In the Notification area section, click Customize... button.
3. From the Select which icons and notifications appear on the taskbar window, click Turn system icons on or off.

To show the volume icon on the notification area in the taskbar, click the Volume drop-down box and click On and then click OK.
To hide the volume icon on the notification area in the taskbar, click the Volume drop-down box and click Off and then click OK.

6. Close the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box by clicking OK.
